Metal Halide can be an efficient light source if used well.
Pulse Start
Pulse Start technology improves efficiencies by about 20% meaning that a 320 Watt Pulse Start Metal Halide lamp can do the job of a regular 400 Watt Metal Halide lamp.
Dimming
Regular metal halide lamps and fittings are not suited do dimming however recent developments are changing that. 'Step Dimming' or dimming by set amounts such as 20% or 40% is a method that allows metal halide lamps to be more energy efficient.
Lights can be dimmed in responce to available daylight or via occupancy sensors that detect a space is not being utilised. This option will require some additional wiring of your lights.
Bunnings are using step dimming on their metal halide lighting and that same efficient technology is available to you through powersaver. Contact us for more information on this new development.
Daylight Switching
With the right controls you can have your metal halide lamps swithced off when there's enought daylight available. This is a specialist area as fittings and lamps can be damaged if daylight switching is not done correctly.
